The
Buteyko breathing method was developed by a Russian doctor in the 1950s,
but only came to the U.S. in the 1990s.
Essentially,
I teach classes of 1-3 people how to retrain dysfunctional breathing back
to normal.
Overbreathing,
something most of us do -- thanks to our busy and often stressful
lifestyles -- can creep up on us unnoticed until our bodies object, just
as overeating does. Overbreathing causes chronic conditions and retraining
can be immensely helpful in reducing asthma, sinus problems, high blood
pressure, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, sleep problems, chronic fatigue
and more.
Buteyko
uses a completely natural approach and is not about throwing away your
drugs (though often they can be reduced), nor involving meditation, diets,
or physical contact.
